Toughened veteran takes on breath-taking charity climbs

Bangor army veteran Bert Smith has set his sights high as this week he aims to tackle some of the toughest treks in Ireland for charity – and all in the space of a few days. The 'Four-Peaks Challenge' is the name given to the gruelling task of consecutively topping the tallest mountains in each of the four provinces of Ireland in at least as many days, with Carrauntoohil in Munster, Lugnaquillia Mountain in Leinster, Mweelrea in Connaught, and Slieve Donard in Ulster all needing to be conquered.
